Review:
I went to see this movie with my wife, and upon entering the room, he was immediately uncomfortable. This is just one man, reviewed by, and he was obviously feeling a little out of the city, as well (although he seemed relieved to see me there). I was expecting a teenage soap opera, but what movie delivered was quite different. This film is more like a modern day few women or teenage girl version of Dead Poets Society. In other words, this is something I have not seen any signs of the decade .... intelligent drama aimed at teenage girls. My answer is that this film was similar to how I felt after watching Babe. I know it's a strange comparison, but both were thoughtful, intelligent films to an audience that normally fed cinematic trash. The elements of good film-making was on full display here. Strong acting, directing the safe handling, terrific writing .... everything that makes a good film. If you are a teenager or in your life, this is an absolute must-see movie. If you do not, you will still have a good time.
